Canadian high-end bike manufacturer Argon 18, who made a grand entrance at last year’s Tour de France with a podium in its first participation, will be back on the roads of the Tour this year. The Montreal-based company and proud partner of German team BORA - Argon 18 confirms once again that its success isn’t a question of sheer luck and reaffirms its position as a world leader in the bicycle industry.
Many are called, but few are chosen
Only a select group of bike manufacturers make it to the Tour de France – the biggest event and undisputed reference in the cycling world. And Argon 18 is one of them.
“Our products performed well in last year’s Tour de France, and this was highlighted by Emanuel Buchmann’s podium finish on the Queen Stage,” explains Gervais Rioux, President and Founder of Argon 18. “Our bikes are fast and handle beautifully. This is partly why BORA – Argon 18’s world-class riders are able to take on the toughest race of the season with confidence. This notion inspires us in our perpetual quest to push the boundaries of performance. The Tour de France is an unparalleled showcase that will allows us to be recognized as one of the very best bike brands in the world.”
A seasoned team
BORA – Argon 18 is keen to set a mark in the opening flat stage. Especially with Sam Bennett: the young sprinter proved with 5 wins in 2015 that he could also challenge the top sprinters. With Emanuel Buchmann and Dominik Nerz the team has two German cards to play in the mountains. With a 3rd place in last year’s queen stage, Buchmann already showed his talent in the Tour de France. Again this year, the group’s goal is to battle in the leading peloton, day in and day out, and cause some upsets in the GC.
“To be invited for the third time in a row to the worlds biggest cycling event is a big honour,” says Team Manager Ralph Denk. “But it is also a proof that we have presented ourselves very well in the past, and always showed good performances. Now the whole team can focus on the preparations for our highlight – the 2016 Tour de France. The most important thing now is that all our guys stay healthy. And we just need some luck to be spared from any crashes in the first frantic week. If the preparation is good, without any problems, a lot will be possible!”
The 103rd edition of the world’s most famous cycling event starts on July 2nd in Mont Saint-Michel (Normandie) and traditionally ends in Paris on July 24th. The riders will have to cover 3,519 kilometres in 21 stages: 9 flat stages, 1 hilly stage, 9 mountain stages and 2 time trials. Spain, Andorra and Switzerland will also be visited, and the Mont Ventoux – a most mystic climb – will be included in this year course.
