E-80
The E-80 is the successor to the highly vaunted Mercury. Its performance capabilities are by now well established and have set a real benchmark in the demanding disciplines of time-trial racing and triathlon.
The E-80, as the Mercury, has been ridden to many podium places all over the world and has greatly helped establish Argon 18 as a major player in this field.
Documents :
• Fork and rear triangle: optimized for speed
o The aero-profile frame and E-80 fork were designed to work together in racing situations.
o The E-80 is a 100% carbon fork, with sufficient compliance dialed in to offset rider fatigue that may result from the aero/triathlon position.
o The rear triangle complements the fork; the whole is solid, stable and yet very nimble; the rider easily feels as one with the bike.
o The substantial seat tube cutout shields the rear wheel from airflow and reduces drag.
o Note: this cutout allows the use of 700x23 tires.
Documents :
• 5000 HM Nano-Tech carbon composite
o Fork and entire rear triangle are 100% carbon fiber, molded in our proprietary molds using the same composite formulation.
o This carbon formulation exhibits good vibration absorption properties, reducing rider fatigue on long rides
Documents :
• Triple-butted aluminum tubes in main triangle
o Triple-butted aero aluminum tubes yield a lighter frame without loss of the tubeset’s desirable mechanical properties.
o Top and seat tube size and shape optimized according to the HDS principle, an Argon 18 exclusive.
o Teardrop-shaped downtube enhances aerodynamic efficiency.
Documents :
• HDS: Horizontal Dual System
For more than ten years now, the Horizontal Dual System has ensured that the top part of our frames absorb vibration while the lower section fully delivers power to the rear wheel.
o The large aero-profile surfaces have not been implemented at the expense of comfort or light weight; the E-80 remains very responsive and comfortable.
o Dividing the frame into two horizontally segmented parts reduces frame weight significantly. Compared to a frame built with conventional tubes, weight can be reduced by as much as 20% while retaining all the stiffness and stability of a heavier frame.
Documents :
• Geometry - AFS time trial version
The Argon Fit System is an optimized cycle geometry that facilitates rider positioning. AFS ensures:
o Easy positioning and ideal ergonomics for riders of all sizes.
o Optimal handling characteristics in all frame sizes. 76-degree seat tube angle offers sufficient positioning flexibility; riders of all sizes can correctly set their aero position.
